Combined SLN Marines – US Navy HA/DR teams clean 74 wells

US Navy personnel who had arrived on-board USS ‘Lake Erie’ joined hands with Sri Lanka Navy Marines, for post Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief(HA/DR) support efforts in Nawagamuwa south, Kaduwela yesterday (June, 13 ).

The combined SL-US post HA/DR support contingent had cleaned and purified 74 wells in the area. Accordingly, 12 SLN Marines with 26 US naval personnel in coordination with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), in Colombo branch were engaged in the civil-military assistance initiative in affected areas in the Colombo district.

USS ‘Lake Erie’ arrived at the Colombo port on 11th June on a two week post disaster relief support mission.
