SLN Marines – US Navy continue post HA/DR missions in 2 districts

US Navy personnel who arrived onboard USS ‘Lake Erie’, combined with Sri Lanka Navy Marines to provide post Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief support activities in the flood affected areas in Galle and Matara districts yesterday (June, 15).

Accordingly, 12 SLN Marines along with 58 US naval personnel undertook cleaning of Mallika Navodya School at Hiniduma and Mapalagama Central College in Galle. Meanwhile, 40 SLN Marines with 64 US naval personnel engaged in cleaning of irrigation and bund repair activities at Thihagoda in Matara district.

US and SL naval personnel are determined to continue their post disaster relief support mission further to assist affected communities in different parts of the country.
